Little bit of river, little bit of ocean, all Narrow River
If you love to paddle or fish in Rhode Island, Narrow River should be at the top of your list. It's official name is the Pettaquamscutt Watershed, which features a fresh water pond and two lakes. The river opens to the ocean, so the tide schedule plays a factor if you are paddling out and back.

Fisherman from all over gather to the Narrow River, which is a misnomer. Since the river is open to the ocean, a variety of marine life is waiting their turn to nibble on some bait. As you drop in from the fishing access, there is a large area where motor boats and people fishing from docks. This is a very popular spot, so keep to the shoreline to avoid the wake. You can venture South to get to the ocean, or North to enter a long system of fresh water pathways.
No matter which direction you go, be aware of the tides. There are strong currents can prevent even strong paddlers from getting back to the way they came. If you want to get into paddling, there are plenty of businesses in the area who will rent equipment and let you drop in.

Narrow River is a destination that many who live in Rhode Island have never been. Once they visit, it becomes a fast favorite that will keep it on the top of your To-Do list.
