Fort Nature Refuge

Described as a "quiet beckoning oasis" this former farm is not to be missed. Located in North Smithfield, RI on 235 acres Fort Nature has many options for loop hikes. Following the blue, the yellow, and red trails is a nice 3.75 mi loop that passes by three ponds, a pine grove, and a small overlook. If you are looking for something shorter, simply stay on the blue trail- a loop of approximately 2 miles.

Getting there: From Interstate 295 take exit 15B. Follow Rt 7 for 2 miles. Take slight right onto Providence Pike (aka Rt 5). In about 2.3 miles look for a small sign on the left signifying the entrance. Follow the lane to the small parking lot. The trails start to the right of the kiosk.
